5 DAYS JORDAN EXTENSION

TWO NIGHTS PETRA & TWO NIGHTS AMMAN

Jordan

Day 1 KERAK CRUSADER CASTLE Kerak

Leave Jerusalem and cross the Allenby Bridge near Jericho into Jordan. Drive through the dramatic desert scenery of the Kings Highway to Kerak Crusader Castle. Continue to Petra.  Stay at a hotel in Petra for two nights. Lunch can be arranged in Kerak.

Day 2 THE ROSE RED CITY OF PETRA Petra

Petra’s fame is well deserved and you will be struck by the scale of the site and the extraordinary beauty of the rock-cut tombs and temples. At the time of Jesus, Petra was a magnificent Nabatean city of enormous wealth, which controlled much of the trade that passed through the region. Enter Petra through the Siq on foot and then suddenly stand before the rock-cut Treasury, hewn out of the red sandstone. Spend the entire day here and visit many of the breathtaking monuments, including some of the Royal Tombs. Lunch can be arranged in Petra.

Day 3 MOSAICS IN MADABA Madaba Map

Leave Petra and drive north along the Desert Highway to Amman. Visit Madaba where you see a famous mosaic map of the Bible Lands. Ascend Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land.  Continue to Amman.  Stay at a hotel in Amman for a two night.  Lunch can be arranged at Madaba.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Nebo.

Day 4 THE BAPTISMAL SITE OF JESUS Baptism - Bethany - Jordan

Morning visit to one of the most significant religious discoveries of the past century.  Bethany beyond the Jordan, is situated on the east bank of the Jordan River, and is the likely place where John the Baptist lived and preached and where he baptized Jesus. The afternoon can be spent beside the Dead Sea with the opportunity to relax and enjoy a float on its therapeutic waters.  Lunch can be arranged at the Dead Sea.

Day 5 JERASH Jerash Theatre

Drive north to the spectacular ruins of Jerash, the best preserved of all the Decapolis cities. Visit the site including the oval forum, the colonnaded street and the theatre. Continue to visit Umm Qais, overlooking the Sea of Galilee then cross Sheikh Hussein border into Israel.  Lunch can be arranged in Jerash.

2 DAYS SINAI EXTENSION

ONE NIGHT SINAI & ONE NIGHT EILAT


Day 1 NEGEV DESERT & SINAI WILDERNESSSinai Camel

An early start.  Drive south via the Negev Desert and cross the Taba Border into Siani (Egypt.)  Visits can be arranged on the way to the border (Qumran, Massada, Dead Sea.)  Continue through the Sinai wilderness to the village of St. Catherine.  Stay at a hotel in St. Catherine's Village for 1 night.  Lunch can be arranged at the Dead Sea or in Sinai.

Day 2 MT. SINAI & ST. CATHERINE'S MONASTERYSt. Catherine Monastery

Wake up very early before dawn so as to climb Mount Sinai under the dark desert night.  Watch the sunrise here on the site where Moses received the Ten Commandments.  Descend Mount Sinai and return to the hotel for breakfast.  Proceed to visit the Byzantine Monastery of St. Catherine with its beautiful icons.  Return to Taba Border and cross into Israel.  Stay at a hotel in Eilat for 1 night (or return to Jerusalem.)  Lunch can be arranged in St. Catherine's Village or Eilat. 


5 DAYS JORDAN & SINAI EXTENSION

ONE NIGHT AMMAN, TWO NIGHTS PETRA, ONE NIGHT SINAI, & ONE NIGHT EILAT

Day 1 JERASH - AMMAN

Transfer to Sheikh Hussein Border for crossing into Jordan.  Drive to Um Qais and visit the Biblical city of Gadara.  Continue to the Decapolis city of Jerash, the best preserved example of a Roman provincial city and walk through the forum, colonnaded streets, amphitheatre and Temple of Artemis.  Next stop is Amman for a view of the Ancient Citadel and the Roman Amphitheatre before turning to the hotel for the night.  Lunch can be arranged in Jerash.

Day 2 MADABA - MT. NEBO - KERAK

Leave Amman and drive to Madaba to visit the sixth century mosaic map of Palestine in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George.  Continue to Mount Nebo, the presumed burial place of Moses.  Visit the church built by the Byzantine Christians and view the Holy Land from its front platform.  Drive to Kerak and visit its Crusader castle before continuing south to Petra.  Arrive in Petra and spend two nights in the rose-red city.  Lunch can be arranged on the way.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Nebo.
